All states in the United States maintain a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) registry which is a registry listing all the legally Certified Nursing Assistants working in that state. Usually, the CNA registry is maintained by the Health Department or the Board of Nursing in the state. However each state can determine which agency can manage the registry. The CNA registry is used to verify whether a person is legally certified to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant in that particular state.
In order to get listed in the CNA registry list, first the CNA student must complete a state approved CNA training program and then appear the CNA certification examination. The CNA certification exam is used to examine whether a CNA trainee is fully qualified and skilful to work as a nursing aide in medical facilities. After successfully passing the CNA certification program, student gets legally certified to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
